About the Role

Zero Hash is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to help develop functional and appealing applications.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team of talented engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver products and features that support Zero Hash's products
  • Partner closely with Zero Hash product teams to support their specific needs while maintaining a high quality and consistent product across each offering
  • Support the engineering team in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability
  • Manage processes to help the team do its best work and interface effectively with the rest of Zero hash
  • Recruit, coach, and develop engineers
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Zero Hash's engineering management team
  • Participate in essential technical, design, and product discussions with leaders across our product and operations teams
  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders to build a clear vision for your team
  • Oversee the success of your team's product and achieve quantifiable results and execution excellence
  • Build systems, services, and product features across multiple platforms that have immediate impact on customers
  • Introduce industry leading engineering patterns and practices that give us the confidence to dare bold things.

Requirements

  • Proficient Golang experience, familiar with Go's idiomatic approach and niches.
  • Familiar experience with NodeJS & TypeScript for a backend service.
  • Understanding of API concepts with proven ability to explain complexity of API to stakeholders
  • Able to architect different communication designs, including gRPC, REST, streaming & message busses
  • Experience and knowledge of best practices surrounding technology platforms
  • Prior exposure to enterprise-sized organizations or fast-growth startups
  • You have 2 to 6+ years of engineering management experience, including managing senior and staff level engineers
  • You've managed teams that have delivered a great product with strong foundations
  • You enjoy working closely with customers, both internally and externally
  • You work very well cross-functionally, and are able to think rigorously and make hard decisions and tradeoffs
  • You encourage a healthy work environment that's both supportive and challenging
  • You're technical enough to ask engineers good questions about architecture and product decisions

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering OR equivalent years of work experience.
  • 10+ years of software design and development experience with backend services.
  • 10+ years hands on experience in any Object-Oriented coding language such as Go, C++, C#, or Java.
  • 3+ years architecting distributed systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English with excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience in DevOps to maintain live services and\or application frameworks.
  • Cloud and services experience, with AWSAzure cloud experience highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical skills with systematic and structured approach to software design
  • Passion for building highly scalable, highly reliable services
  • Strong desire to perform and grow as an Engineering Manager
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical, working experience (5+ years preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams and leading people
  • Demonstrated initiative on previous projects
  • Have a strong bias toward serving your team and stakeholders
  • Growth mindset and a healthy comfort with ambiguity
  • Strong communication skills and customer empathy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate technical details clearly across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience with or exposure to Agile and interactive development processes.
  • Experience at a banking-as-a-service, brokerage-as a service, payment-as-a-service business. An understanding around financial services reconciliation tools.
